Both directions of I-10 at Garth Road are expected to close early on Sunday morning due to electrical work, CenterPoint says.
Officials said the temporary closure is expected from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, affecting all the east and westbound lanes of the interstate, including the feeder roads.
Centerpoint said crews will be removing overhead lines as part of its efforts to "strengthen reliability and support growing energy demand."
CenterPoint added that the freeway light near the work will be out from 10 p.m. on Saturday to 4 a.m. on Sunday.
Another closure expected for I-10 over the weekend includes a shutdown of the east and westbound lanes from Cedar Lane to Bayou Drive, authorities said, adding that the closure is expected from 7 p.m. on Saturday until 6 a.m. on Sunday.
Officials said the detour route will have eastbound traffic exit on Magnolia Avenue and travel down the frontage road and turn right on River Road. Traffic will then be directed to make a left on Market Street, then turn left on Monmouth Drive before making a direct right back onto the I-10 frontage road, officials said.
For westbound traffic, motorists will exit on Magnolia Avenue and travel the frontage road until the Cedar Bayou on-ramp, according to authorities.
